I would be remiss if I didn’t share this video by independent journalist Yoonji Kim.
The billion-dollar Metropolis mixed-use/condo development, which takes up a full city block bordered by Francisco Street, 8th Street, James M. Wood Boulevard, and the 110, has long been rumored to be empty, or at least largely so.
Kim cross-referenced property records with United States Postal Service data and determined that of the 822 condo residences, 281 are still owned by the developer, China-based Greenland USA.
I am hard to impress. This is truly remarkable work that puts quite a few of LA’s louder, flashier media outlets to shame (naming no names here, but if you’ve been paying attention, you already know).
