Three weeks ago, on October 4, I emailed both City Attorney candidates with a short list of questions, primarily about how they intend to hold negligent property owners accountable and what they intend to do about illegal short-term rentals (ESPECIALLY since displacement is already being reported ahead of the Olympics). I checked my computer history - it was definitely October 4.
Nobody in either of their camps has responded AT ALL. Nothing. Radio silence.
While I realize running for public office is a major undertaking that often requires extremely long days, I asked FOUR QUESTIONS. A response could have been composed and sent in 20 minutes. I didn’t even get the courtesy of a form email.
I can’t tell you who to vote for - frankly, I believe that anyone would be an improvement over Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hydee anyway. I will tell you that you can’t sell me on any candidate who doesn’t answer questions from the public. I firmly believe that’s never a good sign.
Candidates Roy and McKinney, it is not too late to respond. I’m listening, and so are my readers.
