And escape is critical. It's a terrifying line up of store front clinics. One can't pay to see an outside doctor while on Medi-cal. In true Newsom fashion, one is protected against that. Doctors can legally accept Medi-cal or nothing. There are fascinating Newsom protections affecting non Medi-cal patients (anyone seeking medical care in California) as well.

I can't find it at the moment (laptop died suddenly the other day and I'm still re-syncing accounts), but soon after posting, I received an email from someone claiming to have worked for Soul Housing. She basically told me, off the record, that employees scrambled to arrange alternate places for patients to go. I can't be sure that every single one is still housed, of course.
I did speak with someone who was close to the situation and they told me aaaaaallllllllll about Health Net. Which is more like “what net?”
