Those Yellow Houses in Westlake Burned Again

Six months ago, I wondered why an incident that received an LAFD response wasn’t on LAFD’s Alerts page. Firefighters were on the scene, and there were FOUR videos posted to Citizen.

I still don’t know why it wasn’t on the Alerts page. I do know that three days ago, the boarded-up yellow houses at 1517 and 1523 8th Street caught on fire again (thanks again, Father Dylan). It made the Alerts page this time, but with an incorrect house number that doesn’t even exist.

ZIMAS shows the houses last changed hands in 2019. Could this be real estate speculation?

Westlake, formerly the nicest neighborhood in the city, breaks my heart on a regular basis. It doesn’t have to be this way - but this is how things are when owners are allowed to neglect their properties and the city doesn’t care enough to enforce its own laws.
